New Zealand has one of the highest incidence rates of melanoma in the world and the highest death rate.

More people die from skin cancer in New Zealand each year than on our roads.

There are more than 8,000 diagnoses of melanoma each year, and around 300 people will die from the disease.

Skin cancer is by far the most common cancer in New Zealand, with eight out of every ten cancers being diagnosed as skin cancer.

The vast majority of skin cancers are preventable (around 90%).
